I had an appointment yesterday with my family doctor. It was supposed to be just a routine check-up. But due to the barely-there temp that’s been following me around, I went home with a round of steroids.
We don’t know what’s causing it. All my blood work has come back good after finishing my round of antibiotics. But clearly my body is still fighting something. We’re hoping maybe the steroids will finally kick it.
Normally, a temp under 101, isn’t looked at as an issue. But things are different when you’re talking radiation and chemo. If it’s not in a normal range, we have to delay...again.
And it starts to panic your doc a bit when those delays get to far removed from surgery. God has a plan, so I’m not worried. But there are times it gets crazy frustrating.
After my appointment on Tuesday, Arden and I got our hair trimmed. It was then, we found a bald spot! I had no idea it was there. It looks and feels like it was something done during surgery, possibly for a monitor? We don’t know. It definitely seems to have been shaved and is now growing in.
The day of surgery, I could feel a bump in that general area and even asked about it. They kind of shrugged it off (really in the grand scheme of things a random bump wasn’t a big deal). But no one ever mentioned that I had a bald spot. Yet another mystery. I may ask my surgeon when I see her again out of curiosity.
I also got a call from the chemo nurse. My iron is running a little low, so I have my first infusion today and another on Monday. That is more than likely related to the surgery as well. It could also explain why I’m sluggish...or maybe that’s the surgery...or I’m old...or......Lol
Tentatively, radiation will start Monday the 19th. Chemo will start the 20th. I won’t know for sure until I see the surgeon on the 13th. Once I get the all-clear from her, we will be good to go.
How can you pray?
*That the fever goes away and stays away
*That we have no more hiccups
*That I tolerate treatment well with minimal or no side affects.
